Dr. Eric Verdin, MD is the president and CEO of the Buck Institute for Research<\/a> on Aging in Novato, California. He is also a medical professor at the University of California<\/a>, San Francisco. Dr. Verdin’s lab investigates the connection between aging and the immune system<\/a>.\u00a0Dr. Verdin earned his MD at the University of Liege<\/a> and went on to finish clinical and research training at Harvard Medical School<\/a>. He has held posts on the faculties of the University of Brussels<\/a>, the National Institutes of Health <\/a>(NIH), and the Picower Institute for Medical Research. Dr. Verdin is also a medical professor at the University of California<\/a>, San Francisco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Verdin has authored over 210 scientific articles and possesses over 15 patents. His team investigates how metabolism, food, and tiny chemicals influence the activity of enzymes and sirtuins<\/a>, and hence the aging process. Dr. Verdin’s research focuses on age-related disorders such as Alzheimer’s<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Verdin joined the Buck Institute<\/a> in 2016 following 20 years as a senior investigator at the Gladstone Institutes<\/a>, where he also served as associate director from 2004 to 2016.Dr. Verdin also serves on the National Institute on Drug Abuse<\/a>‘s advisory committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
