\nEverything people think they know about diet is contradicted somewhere else. What diets work? What does it even mean for a diet to work? Weight loss? Long term health? Enjoyment?

\nStarting January 1st, we will make ten different 4-week diet plans available on Lift. The diets will cover all popular diet advice and then we\u2019ll measure the results, along with our academic partners, in order to look at weight loss, difficultly, enjoyability, and effects on happiness and energy.
\nHere\u2019s an
example Diet Plan<\/a>, written for the Paleo Diet. And here\u2019s the full list:<\/p>\n

  1. Paleo:<\/strong> eat like a caveman, mostly veggies, meats, nuts. Advised by\u00a0Paleohacks<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Nerd Fitness<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  2. Slow-Carb<\/strong>: lean meat, beans, and veggies; abstain from white foods like sugar, pasta, bread, cheese. Based on Tim Ferriss\u2019\u00a04-Hour Body<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  3. Vegetarian<\/strong>: vegetables, but no meat. Cheese and eggs are optional.<\/li>\n
  4. Whole foods<\/strong>: eat only recognizable foods and avoid processed ones. Advised by\u00a0Summer Tomato<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  5. Gluten-free<\/strong>: no wheat, rye, barley or wheat-based foods.<\/li>\n
  6. No sweets<\/strong>: a simple diet change that affects your insulin swings.<\/li>\n
  7. DASH<\/strong>: USDA\u2019s current recomendation.<\/li>\n
  8. Calorie counting<\/strong>: the old standard.<\/li>\n
  9. Sleep more<\/strong>: the science says this should work. Advised by:\u00a0Swan Sleep Solutions<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  10. Mindful eating<\/strong>: learn mindfulness to recognize when you\u2019re full. Advised by\u00a0ZenHabits<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
